Back to school...

Decided the time is right, now parental duties are easing, to finish the Arts and Humanities degree i started a few years ago. i enjoyed studying then but it was difficult to fit it in. Really looking forward to it, the subject matter is so interesting. Alone for a week now, should get out the reading list and make the most of some free time.

I woke up this morning at 7, then realised that at 7 minutes past seven it would be 7.07 on 07.07.07. Perhaps I should buy a lottery ticket, all those sevens have just got to bring a lucky day!

Hi Jackie, Your mention of sevens led me to think the title of your post would be a good name for the next James Bond 007 thriller. Isn't School for Lovers the perfect theme. What a great goal to have for the future. I'd love to hear more about it. If I lived closer to a city with the right school I'd consider returning. I'm on my own for the week same as you. Abraham is off to the Texas Gulf coast visiting relatives. It has given me time to get this siding project underway. I wished to get away after working the day, and dropped into town.
Have a great week, shaken not stirred. Love Scotland

yo jackie! not sure if ur still in the wc group anymore as i haven't seen u post....anyway, this is what i sent out a bit ago:

Hi gang! I wanted to invite you to check out me blog; I have been studying Mel Stabin's "The Figure in Watercolor: Simple, Fast, & Focused" for the last couple of days...I find his book to be an incredible resource, and it spoke to me like no other art book has before! I found myself really "getting" what he was trying to describe, as I read his words and studied his paintings to the point where I realized I was painting in my head, a mental rehearsal, if you will, much like golfers do when they want to practice their swing, or basketball players do when they want to improve their free throws. As you probably know, studies show that this type of mental rehearsal really improves performance significantly...I was curious how this would affect my painting...I think it definitely made some impact (okay, not the quantum leap I would've liked but...)! I'd love to hear what you think about it, but first you'll need to go to http://www.jansmuse.blogspot.com & check out "Red Turban!"

For the enquiring minds who want to know this painting was sketched in pencil & erased so many times I had to vacuum! Also, the whole project took me 4 solid hours. Materials used were: W&N artist colors, Cotman 140# CP block (9x12). The author recommends using a 4B pencil & I usually use a 2B, and I was surprised at the difference. I had alot of problems w/the 4B and had to switch back to my trusty 2B--things went alot smoother from there!!
Thanks & I hope you're having a swell weekend!
Jan
Happily found at http://www.jansmuse.blogspot.com
